Karur, Tamil Nadu – Taking forward the Hon’ble Chief Minister Thalapathy M.K. Stalin’s flagship initiative ‘Vidiyal Payanam’, which offers free bus travel for women, seven new bus routes were inaugurated today at the Karur City Bus Stand.
These newly introduced routes are specifically designed to connect rural women to urban centers, ensuring that the benefits of the scheme extend beyond cities and reach those in remote villages and underserved areas.
The initiative highlights the state government’s commitment to:
- Women’s safety and independence
- Ease of travel for working women and students
- Social and economic empowerment of rural communities
Officials emphasized that the expansion is a step toward inclusive development, where every woman, regardless of location, has access to public transport free of cost — a true reflection of the Dravidian model of governance.
The launch event was attended by district officials, transport authorities, and a large gathering of enthusiastic women and local residents, who welcomed the initiative with gratitude and optimism.
